Using Discord to improve communication
Where I work, we use Discord to manage communications. The ability to create discussion channels and limit who has access has significantly increased responsiveness and participation. People are happy to not be email or WhatsApp spammed by irrelevant messages and the ease of finding what you need: go to the Community Service channel to read the last message about Community Service projects instead of digging through tens or hundreds of pages of messages.
We've started using Discord for the classroom. Many students are already familiar with how it works which reduces the learning curve for the class. The school can review messages in case of problems. It is also easy to create channels for interest topics or class discussions. Here, we have a quick reminder video for teachers on how to create a new channel.
